No one can argue that cinema today is a modern day pulpit. The ultra-high budget movies are its teachers, and the masses are its listeners. Here at Metro we believe that God alone is the master storyteller. Our creative impulse comes from God, and that we were made in the image and likeness of Him. Metro at the Movies is one way that we engage the culture around us. It’s our way of recognizing that entertainment is not mindless, nor should we allow it to be. Metro at the Movies is not meant to entertain you, it’s meant to challenge your view of entertainment.

This series is meant to make you rethink what you feed your soul. Over the past three weeks we have studied three of Hollywood’s blockbusters: How to Train Your Dragon, Hugo, and Thor. All three are beautiful, meaningful creations that parallel various areas of Scripture and do so remarkably well. Today takes us to part four of our series, and with it the movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It’s the seventh and final book in the fantasy novel series written by the British author J.K.

Harry Potter Series Order

The books chronicle the adventures of a wizard, Harry Potter, and his quest to overcome the dark wizard Lord Voldemort. The Deathly Hallows is a dark, gritty, grim film that plays like a war movie in parts. It highlights how the main characters have learned the significance of honor, nobility, sacrifice, and the importance of love. It’s a movie that we’ll hold up to the light of Scripture and is sure to take us into deep conversation and teaching.
